Thursday 6th December 2012  The number of Syrian refugees seeking sanctuary in Libya last month shot up to over 1,300 people, according to figures released by the UN refugee agency UNHCR. Thursday 6th December 2012 Maltese premier Lawrence Gonzi is due in Tripoli tomorrow, Friday, to meet with Prime Minister Ali Zeidan. He will be accompanied on the five-hour visit by an as yet unnamed delegation of Maltese ministers. They will have separate talks with their Libyan counterparts. December 2012  Libya’s Economic and Social Development Fund is withdrawing investments from French banks including BNP Paribas SA (BNP) and Societe Generale SA (GLE) as it shifts attention to its home market. The state-held fund, which has $12 billion in assets, had about $10 billion invested outside the oil-rich nation, fund chairman Mahmoud Badi said in a speech at a conference in Dubai today.  [ Read More ]
