Chad war veterans to be given grant

November 2012

Libyans who fought in the  war in Chad which ended in 1987 are to be paid a financial grant.  The figure is put at  as much as LD 250,000 for those who were injured in the conflict, and LD 150,o00 for those who were not.

The total number of claimants is estimated at around 5,000.
A coordinator of the procedures of the financial grant payments, Abdel-Hafid Madaani, said that the forms relating to the grant payments to the Chad war victims have already been delivered to the payment committee chairman in Tripoli. Payments are expected to be made to about 3,000 people in and around Benghazi alone
Madaani added that the financial grant is expected to be paid this month.
The Chad war was launched by Qaddafi but because it ended in failure, he was not interested in compensating those who had to fight for expansionist dreams.
