Crescent Petroleum, headquartered in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, has said that, under the right conditions, the oil company could be interested in Libya.

Majid Jafar, chief executive of Crescent Petroleum, told Reuters: “We are looking at entering Libya with the right opportunity.” Speaking on the fringes of the World Economic Forum Global Agenda summit in Dubai, he added that there were other countries, including Lebanon, that were of potential interest.

Crescent Petroleum, founded in 1971, was the first privately-owned Middle East oil company involved in exploration and development. It has major operations in UAE, Egypt and Iraq’s Kurdistan.
