British Defence Minister Philip Hammond

The British Defence Minister Philip Hammond arrived Tuesday in Tripoli in an official visit to Libya to discuss bilateral cooperation including in the fields of military and security.

Mr. Hammond is to meet Libyan defense and security officials and he will open on Wednesday a security fair on the Royal Navy warship HMS Kent which arrived on Tuesday in Tripoli.

The arms fair is organized by the UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) and it has been in planning for a number of months.

According to The Guardian, England is trying to boost military sales in Libya as it competes with other European countries such as France and Italy.

Other weapons selling countries such as the US and Russia as well as many others are trying their best to sell military equipment to Libya.
