A joint maritime exercise between Libyan and French naval forces is taking place along the Libyan coast.

The six days of manoeuvres, code-named Shaheen 13, are due to finish tomorrow, Friday.

Three Libyan vessels, Shafak, Essdada and Merseet are participating in the exercise along with the French frigate, Commandant Bouan.

Ayoub Omar Qasim, the official spokesperson for the Libyan Navy Commander in Chief, told LANA that this exercise comes within the framework of the bilateral coordination and cooperation agreemets between Libya and France.

The exercise, according to Qasim, is aimed at raising the efficiency level of the Libyan navy.
