Libya PM under Pressure to Reshuffle Cabinet

As public pressure mounted on government after a week of turmoil in Libya, Prime Minister Ali Zidan said Saturday that he was mulling a limited reshuffle in his cabinet.

“We are about to make a cabinet reshuffle and decrease the number of ministries to ensure a better performance to face the urgent situation,” Zidan told a news conference.

Protesters stormed the office of the Muslim Brotherhood in a number of cities accusing them of being behind a wave of assassinations in Benghazi city and of hindering the rebuilding of the national army and police.

The Libyan public has grown distrustful of political parties after they have witnessed their infighting in the National Congress.

Hundreds of Libyans took to the streets Friday night to denounce the killing of political activist Abdulsalam al-Mesmari in Benghazi. The demonstrations later turned violent.
